Today, the Rational Standard was relaunched. Roughly ten years ago, the Rational Standard was founded as a response to the vitriolic dominance of Fallist culture sweeping through South African universities. Since then, as a publication we have gone through ups and downs, before going through a brief hiatus.
But as of today, that hiatus is at an end. Today, we mark the formal relaunch of the Rational Standard. We’re on a new platform, with a new ambitious publication schedule.
In case you missed our re-launch post, our Editor-in-Chief, Martin van Staden wrote an excellent piece reintroducing old and new readers alike to the publication, contextualizing the Rational Standard amidst a crisis in stagnating, biased and often incompetent mainstream press.

Finally, we wrapped up our relaunch day with an insightful article by Jim Peron on the ironies of ideological equality. A philosophical discussion that is just the sort of fare that longtime readers of the Rational Standard have come to expect from the platform.
